About this session
CISO Peer Group gatherings are your elite “network within network” for CISOs from UK’s leading companies. This group serves as your personal arena to dive deep and dissect the multifaceted aspects of your role with your peers. Engaging in quarterly gatherings with the changing constellation of members each time, with the aim to build collaborative relationships & support each other in facing challenges, solving problems, and identifying opportunities.
This edition will be hosted by Alan Hamilton, CISO at GAM Investments.
The theme for this conversation is: “The AI CISO: Designing Security Teams for a Future Where Humans No Longer Do the Work AI Can.”
The security team of the future won't be defined by headcount, but by judgment. As AI assumes more operational work, CISOs must redefine what expertise, accountability, and value look like in cyber security.
For years, security teams have grown by adding more analysts, more tooling, more alerts, and more processes. Success has often been measured by coverage: more monitoring, more detections, more investigations.
Artificial intelligence fundamentally changes that equation.
Over the next few years, AI will increasingly perform many of the operational tasks that occupy today's security teams such as; triaging alerts, writing detections, investigating incidents, analysing vulnerabilities, generating reports, and even making remediation recommendations. At the same time, organisations are deploying AI across the enterprise, creating new attack surfaces, new governance challenges, and entirely new categories of cyber risk.
The result is a paradox. While AI automates much of today's security work, the security landscape itself becomes significantly more complex. This raises uncomfortable leadership questions.
- If AI performs work previously done by analysts, what should people spend their time doing?
- How do CISOs justify investment in security talent when productivity increases dramatically?
- Which skills become more valuable, and which become obsolete?
- And as AI systems begin making security decisions themselves, where does accountability ultimately sit?
This CISO peer discussion will explore what the cyber organisation of the future should actually look like. Rather than asking how AI fits into today's security team, we'll ask a more fundamental question: what is the purpose of the security team once AI becomes the primary operator?
