About this session

Enterprise Architecture Peer Group gatherings are your elite “network within network” for enterprise architects from UK’s leading companies. This group serves as your personal arena to dive deep and dissect the multifaceted aspects of your role with your peers. Engaging in quarterly gatherings with the changing constellation of members each time, with the aim to build collaborative relationships & support each other in facing challenges, solving problems, and identifying opportunities.

This edition will be hosted by Alison McGurk, GM Architect, Customer & Renewables at Shell.

The theme for this conversation is: “Enterprise Architecture at the Speed of Change: How Do We Enable Faster Decisions Without Creating Chaos?”

Organisations increasingly expect product teams, business domains and technology leaders to move at pace and make decisions close to delivery. At the same time, fragmented choices can create duplication, unmanaged risk and an enterprise landscape that becomes progressively harder to change.

This peer discussion will explore how enterprise architects can create sufficient coherence without becoming a bottleneck, including:

  • Where architecture decisions should sit across enterprise, domain, product and delivery teams
  • How principles and guardrails can enable responsible autonomy
  • What constitutes minimum effective architecture governance
  • How to manage exceptions without turning every difference into an escalation
