For the past twenty years, enterprise security has been built around a simple assumption: humans are at the centre of the digital ecosystem. We created controls around employee identities, user access, endpoint protection, and workforce behaviour. But that assumption is changing.

Today, organisations operate in an environment where applications, APIs, cloud workloads, SaaS platforms, automation engines, AI agents, and machine identities increasingly interact without human intervention. In many enterprises, non-human identities already far outnumber employees.
