About this session

Using a realistic transformation or technology-governance scenario—such as FEC/KYC/AML transformation, an architecture decision, or AI strategy - we will apply the Six Thinking Hats method to deliberately examine facts, stakeholder perspectives, risks, benefits, innovative options, and the decision-making process. The aim is to move beyond competing viewpoints and create a shared basis for better-informed decisions.

Discussion questions
- How can multidisciplinary teams separate facts, risks, benefits, stakeholder perspectives, and new ideas when making complex technology decisions?
- How can the Six Thinking Hats method prevent discussions from becoming polarized or dominated by a single perspective?
- How can teams turn these different perspectives into a clear, balanced, and actionable decision?

Session:
- Introduction to the Six Thinking Hats methodology
- White Hat – Facts: What do we know, what does the data tell us, and what information is missing?
- Red Hat – Feelings: What are the stakeholder concerns, instincts, or reactions?
- Black Hat – Risks: What could go wrong - for example, regarding data integrity, regulation, security, or vendor lock-in?
- Yellow Hat – Benefits: Where is the business value - for example, faster onboarding, reduced costs, better scalability, or lower operational effort?
- Green Hat – Innovation: What alternative approaches could we explore, such as AI-assisted processes, event-driven architecture, self-service capabilities, or automated controls?
- Blue Hat – Facilitation: Have all relevant perspectives been considered, and are we ready to make a decision or do we still need additional input?
